What the YourLegal.app app and website collect, why, who sees it, how long it's kept, and how to delete it.
Effective October 12, 2026
The short version. What you save in the app is private. It is shared with an attorney only when you choose to send a report and agree to share it. We don't sell your information, the app has no ads, and the app never asks for medical information.
This policy covers the YourLegal.app mobile app (the "app") and the yourlegal.app website (the "site"), both operated by YourLegal.app ("YourLegal," "we," "us").
1. Information you give us
- Account: your email address and password. Passwords are stored only in securely hashed form by our sign-in provider.
- Profile: your name, phone number and date of birth.
- Emergency contacts: their name, relationship and phone number.
- Vehicles: details such as make, model, color and plate.
- Insurance: your insurance company, policy number, policyholder name, expiration date and, if you add them, photos of your insurance card.
- Documents: your driver's license and any other IDs or documents you choose to save.
- Reports: what happened, when and where, the photos you take, details about other people involved (such as the other driver's name, contact information, insurance and vehicle), witness names and contact information, your statement, and answers to questions about the incident.
2. Information about other people
Reports can include details about other people, like another driver or a witness. Please share only information you gathered lawfully in connection with your incident. We use it only to document your incident and, if you choose, to share your case file with an attorney.
3. Location
When you start a report, the app can record your phone's precise location so your report shows where it happened. This is optional: you can deny location access and type the address instead, and you can edit the location before you send. Location is captured when you use the feature, not tracked in the background.
4. Crash detection
If you turn on crash detection, the app uses your phone's motion sensors to watch for a sudden stop and show you an alert. Sensor readings are processed only on your phone. They are never stored and never sent to us or anyone else. You can turn crash detection off any time in Settings.
5. What we don't collect or do
- No medical or health information. The app does not ask for it and has no place to enter it.
- No ads. The app has no ads and no advertising tracking.
- No analytics in the app. The app does not use third party analytics or behavior tracking.
- No selling. We do not sell your personal information or share it for anyone's marketing.
6. How we use your information
- To run the app and keep your saved information ready.
- To receive the reports you send and, with your agreement, share your case file with an attorney in our network.
- To contact you about a report you send, by call, text or email, including automated or AI calls, as you agree to when you send it.
- To send optional tips and updates as notifications, only if you turn them on. You can turn them off any time in Settings.
- To keep the app secure, prevent misuse and meet legal obligations.
7. When we share your information
- With an attorney, only when you choose. When you send a report and agree to share it, the attorney reviewing it receives your case file: your report, its photos and documents, the other party and witness details, your name, phone, email and date of birth, your vehicle and insurance details, and a photo of your driver's license. Your emergency contacts, other saved documents and other reports are not included. How referrals work
- With service providers who run parts of our service for us and may use your information only for that purpose: Supabase (database, file storage and sign-in), Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications), Resend (email delivery) and Google Analytics (website visits only, see section 11).
- When required by law, or to protect the safety of anyone.
8. How we protect it
Your information is encrypted on your phone and on its way to our servers (HTTPS/TLS), and access is limited to the people who need it to run the service. Text scanned from an insurance card or license is read on your phone; the image is uploaded only when you save or attach it.
9. How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. We keep reports and records of what was shared, with whom and when, as long as needed to handle your request and meet our legal obligations, then delete them. An attorney who received your case file keeps it under their own professional and legal obligations.
10. Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account any time in the app: Settings, then Delete Account. This permanently removes your login and your access to the app and cannot be undone. Reports you already sent may be kept by YourLegal and by any attorney who received them, as their legal obligations require.
To ask us to delete other information we hold, email hello@yourlegal.app from the email address on your account with the subject "Delete my account." We will respond within 30 days and tell you if any exception applies. More on our Delete your account page.
11. This website
On yourlegal.app we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and download buttons people use. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives information such as your browser type, pages viewed and approximate location. You can block cookies in your browser settings or use Google's opt-out add-on. The website does not ask you to create an account.
12. Your choices
- View and correct your profile, vehicle and insurance details in the app.
- Deny or revoke any phone permission. The app keeps working; for example, you can type an address instead of using GPS.
- Turn notifications on or off in Settings.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to delete it, by email.
13. Children
The app is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
14. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for important changes, let you know in the app.
